What does success look like?

Today our Managing Director Derrick Cullen took part at the 7th Annual National NEET Conference 2013 in Birmingham as a key guest and ambassador of the Bright Ideas Trust.

The event is convened each year to bring people together to discuss, debate and share ideas on how to decrease the 1,027,000 are 16-24 year olds who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). NTRL’s 7th Annual National NEET conference bought together leading figures from across central & local government, education, the third and private sectors. They addressed key policy areas, targeted measures and innovative solutions to assist young people into education, employment or training. The conference was chaired by Chris Wright, Chief Executive of Catch22. Catch22 is a forward-looking social enterprise: they have over two hundred years’ experience of providing services that help young people to turn their lives around in difficult situations.

Derrick Cullen was one of the key guests who spoke of his personal experience of unemployment and of entrepreneurial success and spirit. He was given a standing ovation for his contribution – which for Derrick is just saying it how it is. A straight and honest perception of what is really going on in this country.

Derrick’s final words – “It is great to be part of something which looks to help young people get on their feet. I was proud to see my story got so many people at the event on their feet to applaud. It gives you great hope for this country that their are so many people looking and willing to make the change needed.”
