Clearing out your home; when to chuck and when to sell

It’s that time of year again, when many of us will be looking at ways to clear out and de-clutter our homes. As Spring takes hold outside, inside out comes the dusters and mops and all those hidden away corners of the home are given a clean.

In doing this there is a good chance that you are going to unearth things that were long forgotten about. Clutter can build up in any home and during a clean out there is no better time to make a decision on what you want to do with those items.

The time has come to think about what you want to chuck and what might be worth selling on.

Mobile phones

Most of us will upgrade our phones every couple of years, popping away those old models in a drawer “just as a back-up”. What you might be surprised to find out is that mobile phones are one of the most searched for item on sites such as eBay.

They may not make big bucks when they are older models, but rather than sitting around gathering dust they could make you some helpful pocket money.

Clothes

One thing that we all need and some of us have too many of has to be clothes. Whether it is old season items, those that don’t fit or simply something you just don’t fancy wearing anymore; rather than letting them clutter up your bedroom why not pop them online for sale and see if someone else loves your vintage chic?

Toys

Ask any parent and they will tell you that toys are expensive; it is also an area that many parents are happy to buy second hand. Whether it is Lego or cars, dolls or ponies; if your child has outgrown their collection then it might become an ideal addition to someone else’s.

Don’t forget about the garage

Often we pop things in the garage that we won’t be using anytime soon and just as often these items will stay in there month after month, maybe even year after year.

If you have some belongings that seem to have spent more time in the garage, then being used then why not see if they are in the type of condition to be sold. Camping and gardening equipment, sports items and tools. They may all find a home and clear space out in yours.
